Do I need experience in finance or M&A to join?

What is SDE in business brokerage?
SDE stands for Seller's Discretionary Earnings — the total financial benefit to a single owner-operator running a business. It's calculated as net income plus the owner's salary, personal benefits run through the business, depreciation, amortization, interest, and one-time non-recurring expenses. SDE is the standard profitability metric for valuing owner-operated businesses under $2M in annual revenue.
How long does it take to sell a business?
Most business sales take 6–9 months from signed listing agreement to final wire transfer. The process includes valuation, preparing a Confidential Information Memorandum (CIM), confidential buyer outreach, LOI negotiation, due diligence, legal documentation, and closing. Deals can close faster when the business is well-prepared and the buyer is SBA pre-qualified.
